Vision Screening and Education for Children

80% of a child’s learning is visual, and yet 1 in 4 students in grades K-6 have vision problems that are serious enough to impede learning.
While early detection is key to treat vision problems, only one in three children in America has received eye care services before the age of six, and children from low-income households are more likely to be undiagnosed for vision problems.
Prevent Blindness Mid-Atlantic, in conjunction with Prevent Blindness America and its affiliates across the nation, has taken up the cause to give America’s children the opportunities for vision health and safety that they so sorely lack. Our children deserve to experience the success in education that healthy vision can bring. Across the nation we have launched starpupilsTM to make a difference in the lives of America’s children.
