Day of Vision

As a Day of Vision sponsor you will be promoting education through healthy vision by helping to ensure that all of Virginia’s school children are starpupils™. 

A $500 sponsorship is enough to screen 4 bus loads of children.  So when you pass a bus on your street in your community you’ll know that through your support the children on that bus are arriving at school with all the benefits of their healthy vision.

 

Consider this:

  • 80% of what a child learns in a traditional classroom is through their vision
  • 1 in 4 school age children has a vision impairment significant enough to affect learning
  • On an average school bus, there are 15 children with vision impairment, many times undetected
  • 70% of juvenile delinquents have untreated vision impairment
  • 74% of illiterate adults cannot pass a portion of their vision screening
  • Virginia taxpayers invest on average $10,000 per student EACH YEAR in public education
  • Last year there were 1.2 million children enrolled in Virginia public schools
  • If even 0.5% of those students were to have to repeat a grade in school because of an undetected or untreated vision problem, that equates to $6 million in wasted tax dollars.

Please consider purchasing a Day of Vision in honor of someone special.  The cost to purchase a Day of Vision is $500; $750 buys exclusivity so no one else can purchase the same day.
